Scriptures to Fight Fear

Fight Fear Scriptures-Tiffany ParkerToday I wanted to share some weapons for fighting fear. In my recent journey, I have had to use these scriptures on a daily basis to keep my perspective right and to remember who I belong to. All of us have to fight fear on a daily basis in one way or another. Everything from physical fear of being harmed, to the fear that creeps in when we have to wait for test results to the fear of failure and everything in between.

But God has given us the ability to fight fear with faith. He has equipped us to win the battle with fear that so many of us get trapped under.

Fear is something that can keep you from pursuing your God-given dreams. It can hold you back from your potential in life and going for what God has called you to. Fear will keep you in the illusion of a ‘safety’ zone that really doesn’t exist. All life is a risk. Things happen. Sometimes bad things. But God is always amidst it all.

For those of us who have been around a while and lived any duration of life, know that usually the thing we fear never happens anyway. It is the fear of fear that debilitates us and makes us miserable.

For many years, I have allowed fear to rule my life. Fear of not being successful enough. Fear of not being liked. Fear of the dark. Fear of being alone. Fear of not amounting to anything. Fear of death. And the list goes on. The act of fearing never helped me, never protected me and never kept those things from happening. It only made me ineffective, miserable, paranoid and unhappy. The only thing that can help protect us from fear and help us fight fear is Jesus and the word of God.

I have put together a list of some of my favorite scriptures to help fight fear. When I feel the devil planting the seed of fear in my mind, I talk back with what God says about it all. This dear ones, is the best way to fight the devil, fight fear and fight negative emotions. Just remember what God says, meditate on it and speak out the word of God. Then fear will simply be something you are in control of rather than the other way around.

It will no longer control you and you can make moves in life even when fear tempts its way into your mind.

Here are my favorite scriptures to fight fear:

Isaiah 41:10:

“Fear not, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

2 Timothy 1:7:

“For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.”

Psalm 34:4:

“I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.”

Proverbs 29:25:

“Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.”

Psalm 56:3:

“When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?”

Joshua 1:9:

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Romans 8:15:

“For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you received the spirit of adoption as sons..”

Isaiah 43:1-3:

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. When you pass though the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. For I am the Lord your God.”

Proverbs 19:23:

“The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.”

Psalm 27:3:

“Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident. One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.”

John 14:27:

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

2 Corinthians 5:1:

“For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”
